Quick Take
Seoul & So opened inside the National Gallery Singapore earlier this year, and yes, it's exactly as unexpected as it sounds. Level 5 of the City Hall Wing, inside one of the most prestigious art museums in Southeast Asia. A Korean steakhouse. And somehow, it works.
The space leans into the setting. High ceilings, considered lighting, and a layout that feels more like a supper club than your typical KBBQ joint. No smoke in your clothes here. The ventilation is actually good.
What to eat
Start with the Naeng Kalguksu. Cold knife-cut noodles in a clean, chilled broth. It cuts through the richness of everything else and honestly might be the most refined thing on the menu. If you're coming for the grill, the wagyu options are solid, but the highlight is how well the supporting dishes are calibrated around the meat.
The set comes with a choice of soup. Get the Doenjang Jjigae. Made with Hanwoo beef and proper Korean vegetables, it's better than what you'd expect from a steakhouse and honestly elevates the whole meal.
The banchan spread is tighter than most. Fewer dishes, but each one is there for a reason. Nothing feels like filler.
The vibe
This is date night territory. Business lunch works too. It's quiet enough to have a proper conversation, which is rare for KBBQ in Singapore. Service is attentive without being intrusive.
It's not cheap, but you're paying for the setting as much as the food. Lunch sets are four courses: your choice of meat, a noodle or soup dish, dessert, and banchan. Pork options like Jeju Pork Belly or Iberico Pork Collar start at $35 per person. Beef runs $45 per person, covering Short Ribs (USDA Prime) or Australian Wagyu Rib Fingers. Firmly premium territory. Worth it if the occasion calls for it.
Bottom line
A Korean steakhouse inside a national museum sounds like a concept that could go either way. Here, it lands. The Naeng Kalguksu alone is worth the visit.
